*SPOILERS!*

Ah, how do I begin? I-um, this is going to be rough and er, it won't make sense at first, or maybe later. Anwyays, Allan needed to die. It was pretty brave of them to do it too.
There's more than what I said though. Allan, first and foremost, was the star of Season three, and like all the other stars, he had to g o (e. i. Marian, Robin, Gisborne, I dare say Will and Djaq). No, this isn't the reason of his death. somebody had to die for the Sheriff's threats seem like endgame. And you know, if a show doesn't have any deaths, then we criticize it for not being "realistic" or anything of that sort. If we're being honest, I kinda like characters dying... But when the character dies, we all bhate it, including me. The point is, the only bad part of Allan dying is that he died. Wait.
What I'm saying, Allan needed to die, and I was (sorta?) fine with it. HOWEVER HOW THE KILLED HIM WAS JUST WRONG
