I decided to jump right back and make a part four in this series. (Part 1, 2, 3 all can be found here). As I mentioned in the last part, Marian deceiving Guy in normal circumstances would be a pretty crappy thing to do, as the reason I believe so many fans hated this. However, Marian was doing this for her father's life. Not to mention her own. She wouldn't get around with the Sheriff to help her father, that's for sure. So Gisborne was a safer bet, since she had already almost married him. She also punched him, but that is beside the point.
I think Guy was just stupid, honestly.

Yes, Marian certainly had valid reasons for deceiving Guy and Guy was not terribly intelligent in his dealings with her - choosing instead to see things as he wanted them to be, as opposed to how they really were. It was a dangerous game however, and as you pointed out in earlier posts, certainly didn‘t end well for either of them…
A shame for everyone, because the show really hit its stride in series 2… had they only managed to keep it up…
